Best Build for Xiangling in Genshin Impact
Xiangling is a 4-star Pyro Pyro polearm character in Genshin Impact. This guide covers the best builds, weapons and artifacts for Xiangling.

Pros & Cons

  • Powerful constellations
    • C4 is the breakpoint for Xiangling's power (C3 and C4 are her major constellations). C6 is not a significant boost to Xiangling's personal damage.
  • Great unit available in Paimon's Bargains
  • You're given one free copy
  • Works well in popular compositions
    • Xiangling with a co-star Xingqiu and support Bennett (National) is a premier comp
  • Has a learning curve but teaches you good fundamentals and optimization.
  • Doesn't have great Artifact flexibility (wants 4pc set)
  • Massively dependent on Bennett
    • Bennett provides Pyro energy for Xiangling allowing you to build offensive stats on her.
    • Bennett also provides healing and a powerful attack buff making him extremely in-demand
  • Extremely ER dependent
  • Hard to optimize stats

Builds

Off-Field DPS Build

Xiangling is very good because your damage comes from Pyronado. Allowing you to focus on doing other things and still be able to consistently deal damage. Pyronado is large enough to hit multiple enemies and scales very well dealing good DPS. It's also important to note that Pyronado naturally triggers a lot of reactions and makes it easier to play through Xiangling rather than treating her as a Pyro support.

Generally speaking: ER weapon -> ATK Sands ; ATK weapon -> ER Sands

Talent Priority

Burst > Skill
Pyronado is easily the strongest part of Xiangling's kit. While her Elemental skill also deals good damage, it requires good placement to effectively deal damage.

Stat Priority

Main stats: ATK or ER/Pyro/Crit
Substats: Crit/ATK/ER/EM
In optimized Xiangling comps, her hunger for Crit substats becomes very apparent. This is due to her natural EM scaling and Bennett's Atk buff emphasizing Crit value woes to balance out the stat sheet.

ER however is complicated because you need to ensure you have enough to consistently burst so your ER needs will vary between match-ups. Generally recommended to have at least 180 ER even against favorable matchups.

Weapon Weapons
Best Weapons

These 5★ limited weapons fullfill Xiangling's needs perfectly. Make sure to balance your ER/EM/ATK stats according to whichever weapon you equip on her.

Staff of Homa
CRIT DMG
Star Star Star Star Star
Reckless Cinnabar
HP increased by 20~40%. Additionally, provides an ATK Bonus based on 0.8~1.6% of the wielder's Max HP. When the wielder's HP is less than 50%, this ATK bonus is increased by an additional 1~1.8% of Max HP.
Engulfing Lightning
Energy Recharge
Star Star Star Star Star
Timeless Dream: Eternal Stove
ATK increased by 28~56% of Energy Recharge over the base 100%. You can gain a maximum bonus of 80~120% ATK. Gain 30~50% Energy Recharge for 12s after using an Elemental Burst.
Heat Haze at Horizon's End
The equipping character gains 52~104% of their Elemental Mastery as bonus ATK. When an Elemental Skill hits opponents, the Dream of the Scarlet Sands effect will be gained for 10s: The equipping character will gain 28~56% of their Elemental Mastery as bonus ATK. Max 3 stacks.
Best 4★ weapon

The Catch at this point has become her signature weapon. Only thing holding back The Catch from being the best weapon for Xiangling is the abundance of stats that 5★ weapons just innately have.

"The Catch"
Energy Recharge
Star Star Star Star
Shanty
Increases Elemental Burst DMG by 16~32% and Elemental Burst CRIT Rate by 6~12%.

Stat Sticks
Eagle Spear of Justice
On hit, increases ATK by 3.2~6.0% for 6s. Max 7 stacks. This effect can only occur once every 0.3s. While in possession of the maximum possible stacks, DMG dealt is increased by 12~24%.
Skyward Spine
Energy Recharge
Star Star Star Star Star
Black Wing
Increases CRIT Rate by 8~16% and increases Normal ATK SPD by 12%. Additionally, Normal and Charged Attacks hits on opponents have a 50% chance to trigger a vacuum blade that deals 40~100% of ATK as DMG in a small AoE. This effect can occur no more than once every 2s.
Deathmatch
CRIT Rate
Star Star Star Star
Gladiator
If there are at least 2 opponents nearby, ATK is increased by 16~32% and DEF is increased by 16~32%. If there are fewer than 2 opponents nearby, ATK is increased by 24~48%.

Requires R3 for the damage it brings to outweigh the ER and damage The Catch brings but at R5 its one of Xiangling's best weapons

Watatsumi Wavewalker
For every point of the entire party's combined maximum Energy capacity, the Elemental Burst DMG of the character equipping this weapon is increased by 0.12~0.24%. A maximum of 40~80% increased Elemental Burst DMG can be achieved this way.

A good substitute for The Catch if someone else needs it. It does require Xiangling to be Vaporizing for this weapon to be worthwhile.

Dragon's Bane
Elemental Mastery
Star Star Star Star
Bane of Flame and Water
Increases DMG against opponents affected by Hydro or Pyro by 20~36%.
Moonpiercer
Elemental Mastery
Star Star Star Star
Stillwood Moonshadow
After triggering Burning, Quicken, Aggravate, Spread, Bloom, Hyperbloom, or Burgeon, a Leaf of Revival will be created around the character for a maximum of 10s. When picked up, the Leaf will grant the character 16% ATK for 12s. Only 1 Leaf can be generated this way every 20s. This effect can still be triggered if the character is not on the field.

Xiangling does make good use of its EM mainstat and the energy passive. It's likely the best craftable option.

Kitain Cross Spear
Elemental Mastery
Star Star Star Star
Samurai Conduct
Increases Elemental Skill DMG by 6~12%. After Elemental Skill hits an opponent, the character loses 3 Energy but regenerates 3~5 Energy every 2s for the next 6s. This effect can occur once every 10s. Can be triggered even when the character is not on the field.
Support

Very useful weapon as it helps Xiangling generate more particles, it's not a substitue for a Pyro Battery if you use her as the focus of your DPS.

Favonius Lance
Energy Recharge
Star Star Star Star
Windfall
CRIT hits have a 60~100% chance to generate a small amount of Elemental Particles, which will regenerate 6 Energy for the character. Can only occur once every 12~6s.
Artifact Artifacts
Best Set

Xiangling's best artifact set. Emblem helps address your Energy recharge needs and is the only viable option at 220+ ER requirements.

2 Energy Recharge +20%.
4 Increases Elemental Burst DMG by 25% of Energy Recharge. A maximum of 75% bonus DMG can be obtained in this way.

Situationally better than Emblem. If you have it keep it else its still better to just farm for Emblem set

2 Pyro DMG Bonus +15%.
4 Increases Overloaded and Burning DMG by 40%. Increases Vaporize and Melt DMG by 15%. Using an Elemental Skill increases the 2-Piece Set Bonus by 50% of its starting value for 10s. Max 3 stacks.
Any combination
2 Elemental Burst DMG +20%.
2 Pyro DMG Bonus +15%.
2 Energy Recharge +20%.
2 ATK +18%.

With good pieces this can be a good set for Xiangling, but often times Xiangling will have high damage share making this not really ideal to farm towards

2 Elemental Burst DMG +20%.
4 Using an Elemental Burst increases all party members' ATK by 20% for 12s. This effect cannot stack.
