Best Build for Jean in Genshin Impact

Pros & Cons
- Powerful Healer, Battery, Shredder and EM DPS
- Heals are strong enough without a healer build
- Access to 4PC Viridescent Venerer
- Anemo Cleanse on Burst, useful to remove unwanted Leyline Disorders in domains
- Great F2P weapon options for all roles
- Constellations aren't really an upgrade, especially later ones
- Little if no crowd control for being Anemo
- This makes her niche/a replacement in most teams and never the first choiche
- Anemo Cleanse works on any element, but less effective in actually getting rid of the aura
- Requires either ER weapon or sands for consistent Burst uptime

Performs up to 5 consecutive strikes.
Charged Attack
Consumes a certain amount of stamina to launch an opponent using the power of wind.
Launched opponents will slowly fall to the ground.
Plunging Attack
Plunges from mid-air to strike the ground below, damaging opponents along the path and dealing AoE DMG upon impact.

Focusing the might of the formless wind around her blade, Jean releases a miniature storm, launching opponents in the direction she aims at, dealing massive Anemo DMG.
Hold
At the cost of continued stamina consumption, Jean can command the whirlwind to pull surrounding opponents and objects towards her front.
Direction can be adjusted.
Character is immobile during skill duration.

Calling upon the wind's protection, Jean creates a swirling Dandelion Field, launching surrounding opponents and dealing Anemo DMG.
At the same time, she instantly regenerates a large amount of HP for all party members. The amount of HP restored scales off Jean's ATK.
Dandelion Field
- Continuously regenerates HP of characters within the AoE and continuously imbues them with Anemo.
- Deals Anemo DMG to opponents entering or exiting the Dandelion Field.
Passives

When a Perfect Cooking is achieved on a dish with restorative effects, Jean has a 12% chance to obtain double the product.

Hits by Jean's Normal Attacks have a 50% chance to regenerate HP equal to 15% of Jean's ATK for all party members.

Using Dandelion Breeze will regenerate 20% of its Energy.
Constellations

Increases the pulling speed of Gale Blade after holding for more than 1s, and increases the DMG dealt by 40%.

Builds
Burst Support Build
Burst Support Jean focuses on improving her burst damage, and team buffing capabilities. Maintaining burst uptime should be her biggest priority, followed by damage and healing. If her healing is sufficient even without a Healing Bonus circlet, she can further increase her damage by taking Crit instead.
Burst > Skill
This build focuses on Jean's Anemo abilities so her Normal Attacks can be ignored. Leveling her burst increases its damage and healing, which should be the core of a burst support build. Her skill is also worth leveling since it deals decent damage, but it is not as much of a priority.
Main stats: ATK or ER/Anemo DMG or ATK/Crit or Healing Bonus
Substats: ER > Crit > ATK
ATK/Anemo DMG/Crit is a more offense-based build since it increases her burst damage while sacrificing burst uptime and healing. ER/ATK/Healing Bonus improves Jean as a dedicated healer. Crit Rate should be prioritized when running her as a Favonius Sword battery.

These weapons are the best for increasing Jean's burst damage and healing due to their superior Base ATKs and offense-based substats and passives, but make her more dependent on ER substats for burst uptime.
Gain a 12~24% Elemental DMG Bonus for every element and receive the might of Mistsplitter's Emblem. At stack levels 1/2/3, Mistsplitter's Emblem provides a 8/16/28~16/32/56% Elemental DMG Bonus for the character's Elemental Type.
The character will obtain 1 stack of Mistsplitter's Emblem in each of the following scenarios: Normal Attack deals Elemental DMG (stack lasts 5s), casting Elemental Burst (stack lasts 10s); Energy is less than 100% (stack disappears when Energy is full). Each stack's duration is calculated independently. These weapons are slightly weaker due to their lower Base ATKs and inferior passives, but greatly improve burst uptime and reduce her dependence on ER substats.
CRIT Rate increased by 4~8%.
Gains Skypiercing Might upon using Elemental Burst: Increases Movement SPD by 10%, increases ATK SPD by 10%, and Normal and Charged hits deal additional DMG equal to 20~40% of ATK. Skypiercing Might lasts for 12s.Favonius and Sacrificial Swords have lower Base ATKs, but their passives make Jean perform much better as a battery.
The Flute, Lion's Roar and Kagotsuruhe Isshin provide a lot of ATK which improves her burst damage and healing, but make her more dependent on ER artifacts for uptime.
Although Aquila Favonia's Physical DMG stat is usually wasted, it has the highest possible Base ATK and emergency healing from its passive.
ATK is increased by 20~40%.
Triggers on taking DMG: the soul of the Falcon of the West awakens, holding the banner of the resistance aloft, regenerating HP equal to 100~160% of ATK and dealing 200~320% of ATK as DMG to surrounding opponents. This effect can only occur once every 15s.A very accessible weapon capable of great damage even at the start of the game. Refining it to Rank 5 is greatly recommended in order to make use of its passive fully.
ATK statstick you can get from exploration, it's a good weapon choice for increasing Jean's healing capabilities since the start of the game. Note that you should replace this weapon with Amenoma Kageuchi or other ones mentioned above as soon as you get to Inazuma or obtain them through wishes.

4PC Viridescent Venerer (VV) is the best option since Jean has access to Swirl, allowing her to massively increase your team's damage by shredding enemies' elemental resistance. It is however recommended to use this set only if you are planning to put Jean in a team built around a Pyro, Cryo, Electro or Hydro character, as the 4 piece effect won't be helping Anemo and Geo characters' damage.
4PC Noblesse is a decent set that provides a team-wide ATK% buff. Only take this set if your team focuses on Anemo/Geo/Physical DMG and there is not a 4PC Noblesse holder in the team alreasy, as the effect doesn't stack.
4PC Emblem is a selfish set since it maximizes Jean's burst damage and uptime without providing support to your team.
These budget sets are weaker in terms of damage and supporting your team but are much easier to complete.
This set will increase your party's EM, making any elemental reaction more powerful. It's one of the easiest sets to get in early game, so definitely an accessible option for your Jean.
This set will help your team's energy generation, if you do not need the Elemental Mastery buff then 4pc The Exile is a valid substitute.
EM Support/Sunfire Build
Another way to build Jean is to stack ER/EM on her and pair her with Bennett. With both of their bursts active, the Anemo aura from Jean's burst will constantly swirl the Pyro aura from Bennett's burst. This opens up powerful elemental reactions and damage output when combined with even more elements.
Burst > Skill
This build focuses on Jean's Anemo abilities so her Normal Attacks can be ignored. Leveling her burst increases its damage and healing, which should be the core of an EM build. Her skill is also worth leveling since it deals decent damage, but it is not as much of a priority.
Main stats: ER or EM > EM > EM
Substats: ER = EM
Swirl reactions cannot crit so the only important stats are ER for burst uptime and EM for swirl damage. Although Crit Rate is usually wasted, it can be worth taking if her only available weapon is Favonius Sword.

Since her build will rely on EM for damage, these weapons will help further boost her Swirl damage.
A part of the "Millennial Movement" that wanders amidst the winds.
Increases DMG by 10~20%.
When the character wielding this weapon triggers Elemental Reactions, they gain a Sigil of Rebellion. This effect can be triggered once every 0.5s and can be triggered even if said character is not on the field.
When you possess 2 Sigils of Rebellion, all of them will be consumed and all nearby party members will obtain "Millennial Movement: Song of Resistance" for 12s.
"Millennial Movement: Song of Resistance" increases Normal, Charged, and Plunging Attack DMG by 16~32% and increases ATK by 20~40%. Once this effect is triggered, you will not gain Sigils of Rebellion for 20s.
Of the many effects of the "Millennial Movement," buffs of the same type will not stack.Great F2P starter weapon but it is slightly weaker than Iron Sting.
These weapons do not provide offensive stats but help with Jean's ER needs, allowing her to run EM sands comfortably.
CRIT Rate increased by 4~8%.
Gains Skypiercing Might upon using Elemental Burst: Increases Movement SPD by 10%, increases ATK SPD by 10%, and Normal and Charged hits deal additional DMG equal to 20~40% of ATK. Skypiercing Might lasts for 12s.
Since Jean can Swirl multiple elements at a time, 4PC VV becomes her best option since it empowers the rest of the team.
These sets still help the team but are not recommended since 4PC VV has a stronger impact and 4★ artifacts have weaker scaling. They are however perfect replacements if you're still in an early stage of the game and can't afford getting 5★ artifacts from domains.
Physical DPS Build
Physical DPS build focuses on Jean's charged attack. Her charged attack hits once and can knock up small enemies or stagger larger enemies. This combos into her held E. She can throw enemies into the sky and deal massive fall damage or throw them into water or off a cliff for quick kills. Jean can still provide decent healing even with a damage-oriented build.
Normal Attack > Burst > Skill
Since Jean is using a physical build, only her normal attack is needed for damage. Her burst is only ranked higher than her skill for her healing.
Main stats: ATK%/Physical DMG/Crit
Substats: Crit > ATK% >> ER
Crit and ATK are the highest priority for increasing Jean's damage output. ER is only needed to improve her burst uptime, which can be very useful if there are no other healers on the team.

These weapons are the best for Physical Jean due to their high Base ATKs, offensive second stats, and powerful passives.
This effect can only occur once every 15s.Gain a 12~24% Elemental DMG Bonus for every element and receive the might of Mistsplitter's Emblem.
Each stack's duration is calculated independently.Great weapon for Jean since it provides Crit and Normal/Charged Attack buffs which improve at higher refinements.
The Blackcliff Longsword performs very well due to its Crit DMG and ATK buff from its passive. Although the passive is powerful especially with refinements and stacks, it can be inconsistent since stacks cannot be obtained when fighting a single tanky enemy.
A decent starter weapon for Jean, especially since it can be obtained for free. However, it is easily outranked by other weapons even at higher refinements.

This 2PC/2PC combination will provide a large Physical DMG bonus with full uptime.
An 18% ATK set is easier to obtain but will provide less damage.
If you can consistently spam Jean's E, you can maintain full stacks on 4PC Pale Flame and it will outperform the previous sets. Without full stacks, this set is significantly worse.
4PC Shimenawa requires Jean to have a high enough ER to be able to refund the 4PC effect cost. Cooldown management (6s E/10s 4PC effect) is important in order to properly maintain 4PC effect uptime. This set will significantly hurt Jean's Q uptime.
