Plunges from mid-air to strike the ground below, damaging opponents along the path and dealing AoE DMG upon impact.
Chongyun strikes the ground with his greatsword, causing a Cryo explosion in a circular AoE in front of him that deals Cryo DMG.
After a short delay, the cold air created by the Cryo explosion will coalesce into a Chonghua Frost Field, within which all Sword, Claymore and Polearm-wielding characters' weapons will be infused with Cryo.
Performing the secret hand seals, Chongyun summons 3 giant spirit blades in mid-air that fall to the earth one by one after a short delay, exploding as they hit the ground.
When the spirit blades explode, they will deal AoE Cryo DMG and launch opponents.
When dispatched on an expedition in Liyue, time consumed is reduced by 25%.
Sword, Claymore, or Polearm-wielding characters within the field created by Spirit Blade: Chonghua's Layered Frost have their Normal ATK SPD increased by 8%.
When the field created by Spirit Blade: Chonghua's Layered Frost disappears, another spirit blade will be summoned to strike nearby opponents, dealing 100% of Chonghua's Layered Frost's Skill DMG as AoE Cryo DMG.
Opponents hit by this blade will have their Cryo RES decreased by 10% for 8s.
The last attack of Chongyun's Normal Attack combo releases 3 ice blades. Each blade deals 50% of Chongyun's ATK as Cryo DMG to all opponents in its path.

Chongyun's performance depends on the team comp. He can effectively support Freeze/Melt teams or ruin Physical teams. Chongyun is a great low-investment support since he can easily provide Cryo infusion to the team, while also gaining nuke potential with his burst at higher investments.
Burst >>> Skill
Most of Chongyun's damage will come from his Burst due to its high scaling, reverse melt potential, and C6 DMG increase. Leveling up his skill will extend the Cryo infusion duration, but the skill and normal attack damage are negligible.
Main stats: ATK or EM/Cryo DMG/Crit DMG or Rate
EM is only needed if he can trigger reverse melt with his burst. ER is prioritized since giving him an ATK% sands can yield diminishing returns. His Ascension stat is ATK% and Bennett can compensate for the missing ATK% anyway. ER can also end up redundant due to the low burst cost but becomes somewhat useful when running 4PC Emblem.
Wolf's Gravestone has high base ATK stats, making ATK% stats more useful. As for Serpent Spine, Crit on the 2nd stat gives you some breathing room when farming for Crit artifacts.
Skyward Pride's high ATK and ER stat helps out Chongyun's energy needs.
Redhorn Stonethresher and The Unforged provide massive stats but their passives aren't often utilized.
This weapon increases Chongyun's reaction DMG as well as his and his teammates' ATK. EM sands is highly recommended.
Although these claymores only have ATK% as their second stat, their passives provide tons of damage.
These claymores are a little weaker since the passives are not very helpful but can easily be obtained.
Sacrificial and Favonius Greatswords do not offer much damage but they can improve burst uptimes of the whole team. ER stat becomes redundant due to his low burst cost, but 4PC Emblem can still benefit from it. Sacrificial is the better option for teams that rely on his skill.
This 2PC set combination is ranked above 4PC Emblem since overstacking ER on Chongyun is generally avoided.
Although this set has a higher DMG bonus ceiling, overstacking ER can maximize the 4PC effect but can make him miss out on ATK stats.
These 2PC set combinations are weaker in terms of damage but are much easier to farm. Only take Wanderer's Troupe if Chongyun can trigger reverse melt.
Chongyun can maintain 100% uptime on the 4PC Noblesse buff due to his low cooldown and burst cost. Great set for a low-investment build but this should only be taken if no one else can use 4PC Noblesse.
